Sampension to up private equity by €100m
DENMARK - The DKK75bn (€10bn) Sampension will increase its private equity exposure from 2% to 3% over the next years.
Charlotte Mark, head of equities at Sampension, confirmed to IPE that billions of Danish kronor would be allocated to the class.
Sampension is the common investment fund for Denmark's local authorities, teaching assistants and graphic designers.
It will invest both directly and via fund of funds offered by Nordea. Sampension said that the "strategic partnership" with Nordea opened more opportunities to invest globally in this asset class.
A superior return over listed equities was quoted as one of the attractions of private equity.
While Sampension has invested in private equity for a long time it is the first time the fund is buying a Nordea product.
"We did our due diligence on the subject and we liked their process," Mark said.
