UK – Alistair Darling is to remain in his position as secretary of state for work and pensions following the reshuffle of UK government posts after last week’s general election.

Darling will have overall responsibility for all work and pension related matters as well as public expenditure issues.
Alongside Darling, Ian McCartney has been appointed as minister of pensions, covering basic pension, SERPS, stakeholder, private pensions and occupational pension issues.

Maria Eagle has been appointed minister for disabled people and deputy to the minister for pensions.
