UK university scheme seeks investment chair
UK - The £20bn (€29.4bn) Universities Superannuation Scheme is seeking a new chairman of its investment committee to replace Scott Bell.
The scheme, the UK's second largest, is seeking "an experienced investment specialist as a co-opted director, initially as a board member and with the intention that they would chair the investment committee", according to a job ad. A spokesman said Bell is staying with the scheme.
"The candidates should be able to show relevant senior management experience in the management of substantial investment assets in a relevant environment," says a person specification on the scheme's web site.
"The role is membership of the board of USS Ltd. and of the investment committee which oversees the activities of internal and external fund managers who control substantial funds.”
And it states: "Experience of pension fund management in the services sector would be advantageous." Duties include acting in a "non-executive, advisory capacity".
The USS board comprises 12 directors. The closing date for applications is May 17.
