NETHERLANDS - Bram van Els, the spokesman for and communications head of PME, the Dutch industry-wide pension fund for the metal and electro industry, is to launch his own consultancy business.

On leaving the fund, one of the largest in the Netherlands today with assets of €22bn, Van Els said his new business, Backscratch, will focus on communication and PR for the financial service industry and policy-making on responsible investments.

Van Els, who has played a major role in shaping PME's new social responsible investment policy, had been with the fund since 2003. Before that he worked with the Amsterdam city council and Achmea Pensions.

PME is now looking for Van Els' successor but until the fund has found one, van Els will remain with PME for at least one day a week to finish ongoing projects.
