UK - Mark McCombe is to take over as HSBC investment head at the end of March.

His predecessor, Alain Dromer, is to leave the group.

McCombe is currently CEO of HSBC private banking in the UK, the Channel Islands and Luxembourg.

His previous asset management experience was as a director of HSBC Asset Management Europe - a position he filled in 2000-2003 when he was CEO of HSBC Private Bank France.

The bank positioned Dromer's departure as a natural end to a period of strategic growth. In the five years to 2006, funds under management increased to $328bn (€250bn) from $123bn. Dromer is a non-executive director of AXA Framlington.

It is not clear whether the group interviewed more than one candidate to replace him or whether it considered external applicants. A spokesman for the bank declined to comment on the appointment process.

In a separate move, Mark Campanale, head of socially responsible investment (SRI) business development at Henderson Global Investors, is to join London Bridge Capital (LBC), a recently formed corporate finance consultancy specialising in environmental investment. As associate director, Campanale will report directly to LBC CEO Peter Greensmith.

Campanale's departure comes during a period of organisational restructuring at Henderson that will see SRI business development integrated into the mainstream sales function.
