UK – Putnam Investments has named Stephen Cohen as head of its European business, replacing Thomas Reilly, who has retired.

Putnam said in a statement that it has named Cohen as managing director and head of European business. He will report to John Boneparth, the firm’s head of international business.

Cohen joined Putnam, part of the Marsh & McLennan group which also includes consulting firm Mercer, in September 2002.

He was previously head of institutional business at Zurich Scudder Investments in London.

Boneparth said: “We are beginning to make some substantial inroads into the European market. With our wide range of products and services we are confident that we are well placed to take advantage of the opportunities.”

Putnam manages more than 241 billion dollars for more than 13 million individual investment accounts and over 700 institutional clients.
