IPE institutional market survey: Managers of Nordic institutional assets 2025

Managers of Nordic institutional assets 2025

The assets managed on behalf of Nordic institutional investors have grown handsomely since the 2022 trough, increasing by almost 57%, while those managed on behalf of Nordic pension funds have grown by 50% over the same period.

Storebrand Asset Management tops the institutional AUM ranking, and two other local managers, Nordea and DNB Asset Management, are in the top five. BlackRock overtook Nordea in 2023 and has maintained a slight lead over the past two years. State Street is catching up with DNB Asset Management. When it comes to pension assets, however, BlackRock and State Street hold the top spots in the ranking, followed by DNB, Northern Trust and Nordea.

IPE covers a good variety of very current and relevant topics. It is good to read the high-level, independent and objective perspectives from pension funds in other European countries; many of them are dealing with the same issues as we are, so it is interesting to learn from their experiences, especially when they are ahead of where we are on the curve.
