IPE institutional market survey: Managers of Swiss institutional assets 2026

Managers of Swiss institutional assets 2026

Domestic managers top our ranking, in terms of AUM, of the leading managers of Swiss institutional assets. However, UBS Asset Management is the undisputed leader, following the acquisition of Credit Suisse by UBS, and the onboarding of Credit Suisse’s institutional clients.

UBS’s share of the wider institutional market and of the pension fund market is almost 28% and 37%, respectively. The runner-up in our ranking, Zürcher Kantonalbank, controls 18% of institutional assets and 23% of Swiss pension fund assets. Swiss Life Asset Managers has a 12% market share among institutional managers and it controls 6% of Swiss pension fund assets. Pictet, in fourth place, controls 5.3% of the institutional market and 5.4% of pension fund assets.

IPE covers a good variety of very current and relevant topics. It is good to read the high-level, independent and objective perspectives from pension funds in other European countries; many of them are dealing with the same issues as we are, so it is interesting to learn from their experiences, especially when they are ahead of where we are on the curve.
