IPE institutional market survey: Small and mid cap equities managers 2025

TOP 10 MANAGERS-EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONAL ASSETS May-Jun 2025

The total assets invested in small and mid-cap equities by global managers increased by more than 13% last year, while the assets invested on behalf of European institutional investors fell by nearly 8%.

According to IPE’s estimate, BlackRock remains by far the largest global manager of small and mid-cap equities, with AUM in excess of €554bn. In Europe, State Street Global Advisors is the largest manager of institutional small and mid-cap equity portfolios in terms of AUM, with more than €8bn of assets. The rankings of global managers and European institutional managers differs substantially, reflecting the different make up of global and European portfolios.
