NETHERLANDS - The Dutch Actuarial Association (AG&AI) has appointed Rajish Sagoenie as its new chairman.

Sagoenie, 42, is executive director at Aon Consulting Actuarial Services in the Netherlands, and responsible for consulting and certifying services to multinational companies and pension funds in both the Netherlands and abroad.

Within Aon Consulting Services, Sagoenie is chairman of the management team actuarial services, the company's certifying committee as well as its actuarial steering group.

Sagoenie is a member of the company's Retirement Practice Council in Europe, in addition to his chairmanship of Aon Netherlands' Retirement Practice Council.

The new chairman succeeds Marco Vet, who has been chairing the actuaries representative body during the past two years.

Vet is group director business development at Eureko/Achmea, and responsible for strategy, innovations and mergers.

According to the AG&AI, Vet played a leading role in restructuring the organisation and improving its international position.

"Vet established working groups and committees and improved their mutual cooperation. Moreover, he improved the organisation's relations with stakeholders, such as regulator DNB, the Dutch Association of Insurers, the pension funds' lobbying organisations and the ministry of Social Affairs," the new chairman pointed out.

Sagoenie said he will continue Vet's approach and focus on raising risk-awareness among AG&AI's 800 member-actuaries.

The new chairman also said he aims to improve the AG&AI's position on solvency-related accounting rules, and tackle their practicality for pension funds.
