UK – Schroder Investment Management has appointed Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein finance head Stephen Brooks as group financial controller and deputy CFO.

Brooks replaces Chris Coombe, who was at Schroders from June 2002 until September 2005. Coombe subsequently moved to Fidelity International.

Brooks, 40, starts at Schroders on January 3 and will manage the global finance function. He will have approximately 114 people reporting to him globally.

He will also work closely with group chief financial officer Jonathan Asquith on investor and analyst relations.

Brooks has been at DrKW for eight years, during which time he held the position of chief operating officer North America and group finance roles in the UK and US.

Before that, he held reporting and audit roles at Midland bank, and Coopers & Lybrand.

DrKW’s deputy head of finance Nick Slape will step into Brooks’ shoes. A spokesperson for the Europe-based investment bank was uncertain as to who would be taking over Slape’s former position.

Schroders has £112.1bn (€166.8bn) in assets under management.
