NETHERLANDS – Henk Brulleman, deputy CIO of the approximately NLG29.5bn Shell pension fund (Shell Pensioenfonds Beheer -SPB) is to leave his post at the end of the month to join US quant/alternative investment house Numeric Investors Limited Partnership, as the company’s European director.

Numeric is currently seeking an operational license in the Netherlands and Brullerman says that once the license has been received, he will provide portfolio management, model development and client service for Numeric’s European products and clients out of Voorburg, a suburb of the Hague.

Brullerman adds that he will be working closely with Rob Furdak, director of international strategies and the principal portfolio manager for Numeric’s European products.

Numeric, which was founded by Langdon B. Wheeler in the US in 1989, uses quantitative stock-selection techniques in a bid to capture excess returns using both long/short and long only strategies.

“ I have known Lang and the team at Numeric for a long time, and I have been impressed by the firm’s capability to continually refine, rejuvenate and further develop its models,” says Brullerman.
“ I am leaving my post as deputy CIO with mixed feelings. SPB is an innovative, leading pension fund where I have been involved in many advanced asset management activities, “ he adds.
