EUROPE - Standard & Poor's has hired Thomson Financial's former European sales director Susan Lait to be its new European head of sales for investment services.

"She will be responsible for sales and customer management across the business, which encompasses Standard & Poor's non-credit market information and analytic services, covering indices, funds and equities," S&P said in a statement. The role is a new one.

Geoff Hawksworth, S&P's head of European investment services, said: "Susan has a fantastic track record in sales and support and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role for Standard & Poor's.

"Our indices, funds and equities business has evolved considerably over the last year and we will value Susan's input enormously as we continue to develop our offering across Europe."

A Thomson spokesman said Lait left in May and was not directly replaced.
