Index provider FTSE has added 82 new companies to FTSE4Good, its socially responsible investment index series. These companies have been included in the index as having met the corporate social responsibility criteria required to be a part of this universe.
FTSE4Good was launched in July 2001 in conjunction with EIRIS, the ethical investment research organisation, and comprises eight indices focusing on four regions – the UK, Europe, the US and global.
In the UK, a total of 24 companies have joined the index including Safeway, Rank Group, Lonmin, Egg, Spirent, Brown Group and Eurotunnel, as well as 17 companies from the FTSE SmallCap index.
At present 83% of the FTSE All-Share index is represented in the FTSE4Good family, which represents an increase of 7% since the series were launched.
