Annual salaries paid to investment professionals at European instiutional investors averaged E57,600, which increased to E70,500 with bonuses, but only 22% were eligible to obtain a bonus.
These figures are given by Connecticut-based consultant Greenwich Associates in its recently published details of the European institutional fund management scene.
Pension fund professionals had highest average annual salary earnings at E58,500, or E71,700 if they were among the 22% obtaining bonuses. For corporate pension funds annual salaries at E53,700 were considerably lower than for public/industry funds which averaged E64,600. But 31% of corporate funds gave bonuses, bringing their total remuneration to E67,400, but still well below E75,200 for the 11% of public/industry funds giving bonuses. The poor relations of the industry are the foundations, according to the figures.
