UK – Paul Trickett, who resigned from his role as head of multi-asset class and fiduciary management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management at the end of April, has joined the board of Thomas Miller Investment.

Trickett will join Thomas Miller as a non-executive director in charge of developing the company's growth strategy.

Speaking with IPE, he said his role would be to chair trustee meetings and work alongside the executive team to provide guidance.

Mike Balfour, chief executive at Thomas Miller, cited Trickett's "esteemed career" in the investment industry, having managed some of the largest pension funds in the UK.

Trickett also holds several other roles as director of Aberforth Smaller Companies investment trust and trustee chairman for both the Zurich Financial Services UK Pension Scheme and the Legal & General (L&G) WorkSave master trust, to which he was appointed recently.

He told IPE he retired from his executive roles earlier this year and was now embarking on a "portfolio career".

"All those new roles are a follow-on from full-time work," he said.

Trickett spent three years at Goldman Sachs, joining the asset manager in 2010 from Towers Watson, where he was then EMEA head of investment consulting.

He joined Towers Watson – at the time known as Watson Wyatt – in 1999 after 20 years at British Coal.

Other non-executive roles are also in the pipeline, he said.

Trickett told IPE he expected to join "one or two" other pension schemes trustee boards as non-executive director before the end of this year, but declined to comment further.
