UK pension consulting firm Argentia to close

UK – Argentia Pension Consultants Ltd. is to close, with founder Tim Sharples joining actuarial consulting firm Lane Clark & Peacock.

“Argentia will close,” Sharples said. The Reading-based firm was set up in 2000 following the management buy-out of the corporate division of pension and actuarial consultancy Callund Consulting.

His co-principal Melvin Nightingale will focus on his role at the International Benefits Network, Sharples added.

Lane Clark & Peacock said in a statement that Sharples would join as a partner, based in its Winchester office. The move takes LCP’s partners to 54, of which 11 are based in Winchester.

Sharples said that three Argentia support staff would not be joining LCP. LCP said Sharples brings more than 20 corporate clients. He declined to say how much that business was worth.

LCP managing director Tony Mason said: "Our international base in Winchester is undergoing significant expansion at present and Tim's appointment represents a major step forward in delivering our international growth strategy.

“Tim's clients can look forward to the full range of services currently enjoyed by LCP's existing clients.”

Lane Clark & Peacock is part of South African financial services group Alexander Forbes.
