UK - The heads of FTSE100 companies enjoyed median bonus rises of 39% last year, according to data from corporate governance specialist, RREV.
This translates in cash to a £177,000 (€261,000) improvement, up from £450,000 in 2005 to £627,000 in 2006.
Bonus rises for FTSE250 company heads rose by a median 34% and for FTSE Small Caps by 31%.
Other executive directors at Britain's blue-chip companies received a median 48% improvement in bonus, up from £225,000 to £333,000, taking their total median cash remuneration to £787,000.
But the largest rise by group was among the bosses of lower quartile (by market cap) Small Caps, whose median bonus almost doubled between 2005 and 2006, growing 89%.
RREV notes that many companies had increased the maximum bonus potential and that bonus had increased as a relative element of total remuneration.
