UK - The Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) has tendered salary and pensions payroll services for the judiciary, members of the European Parliament and senior political and public office holders.

Currently the payroll services are delivered by Paymaster and Capita Hartshead. The tender is an "opportunity for the DCA to rationalise the contracts it manages," a spokeswoman of the department told IPE.

The Paymaster contract, including judicial MEP salaries payroll provisions as well, will end in September 2007.

The DCA "gave notice to Capita that it would not be taking advantage of the contract extension provision" beyond that date. Instead the contracts were reconfigured and bidders can express interests to tender for the salary or pensions payroll only or for both mandates.

The contract includes monthly calculation and payment of pensions, database updates, operation of client bank accounts, making lump sum payments, death benefits etc for around 1,400 pension accounts.

DCA manages the Judicial Pensions Scheme (JPS), an unfunded, salary-related, occupational pension scheme open to most members of the Judiciary.

Deadline for participation is November 27, 2006.
