NETHERLANDS – Jacob van Eeghen is to resign as chairman of ING Investment Management (IIM) on May 1, 2001. Last October Van Eeghen had expressed his will to leave the job for personal reasons but has agreed to stay until May to facilitate his succession.

Tom Balachowski, the current chief executive officer of ING Investment Management Americas, will relocate from Atlanta to the Netherlands to become the new chairman. Like Van Eeghen, he will be chief executive officer for both IIM Europe and IIM Global.

Balachowski’s successor will be announced later this year.
