EUROPE – Theo Kraan, private investment director of Dutch-based Van Lanschot Bankiers, has died in an accident.

Kraan, 60, had been at Van Lanschot since 2004, a spokesperson told IPE.

“Our condolences go out to his wife and children,” said a statement from the independent bank.

A more detailed release will be sent out as soon as possible, said Van Lanschot Bankiers.

Kraan’s death follows that of Atlantis Investment Management founder and chief executive officer Peter Irving, who was killed in an accident last Friday.

Irving, 49, founded the firm in 1994. An official at Atlantis told IPE that his funeral is due to be held on May 18.

Last week, at the request of PGGM, the Van Lanschot supervisory board and board of managing directors agreed to covert B shares held by PGGM into depository receipts for A shares.

PGGM holds 7.39% of the share capital of Van Lanschot. The conversion will take place in two tranches: The first occurred on the day of the announcement, while the second is due to take place on an unspecified future date.
