UK - Watson Wyatt says it has hired Hewitt Associates' Graham Everness as a senior consultant in its Pensions Technical Unit.

The unit provides advice and assistance to clients and associates on legislative and technical matters.

Watson said Everness headed the technical team at Hewitt. He's actuary and is a member of the Guidance Committee of the Pensions Board of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries.

"We are very pleased that Graham has chosen to join Watson Wyatt at a time when provision of accurate and timely technical advice is critical to helping clients understand the options and constraints that they face in providing competitive benefits packages for their employees," said Mark Stewart, European Head of the Benefits Practice at Watson Wyatt.

Elsewhere, Gissings said it has appointed two new senior actuarial consultants, Neal Thompson and Geoff Arnold.

Thompson joined as a client relationship manager from Hewitt while Arnold joined Gissings as a scheme actuary.

Martin West, director of actuarial and investment services, commented: "We are delighted that Neal and Geoff have joined us, they bring vast pensions experience of the issues corporate sponsors and scheme trustees are facing.  Their expertise will add strength to our consulting teams at what is a very busy time for Gissings."
