GLOBAL - BHW, GCAE, Hymans Robertson, HSBC, Hewitt, LCP, Fidelity, Punter Southall, NTGI, EDHEC.

BHW - Now that Hanover-based Talanx has absorbed the insurance operations consolidated under BHW Holding, including life insurer BHW Lebensversicherung and BHW Pensionskasse, a multi-employer pensions scheme launched in 2003, BHW has made several new appointments. Stephan Spital started last week as head of the life insurer's board of directors. Silke Fuchs and Iris Klunk were appointed board members, while Jens Bauer will remain a member, also of the pension fund board, but Bernd Echkhardt will resign. Fuchs, together with Dieter Mueller, has also been appointed a board member of the pension fund.

The Groupe Consultatif Actuariel Européen
- Dutch actuary  Ad Kok, previously at Watson Wyatt, has been named as replacement for Jukka Rantala (Finland) as the chairman of the representative body for 34 European actuarial assocations. The Groupe also appointed as vice-chairmen Peter Prieler (Austria) and Bruce Maxwell (Ireland).

Hymans Robertson - Rob Harper is the new head of trustee services. He will take on his new responsibilities alongside his current role as head of the Birmingham office, the firm said.

HSBC - Richard Reid will replace Alan Fishman, who at the end of this year retires as chief executive of the bank's actuaries and consultants arm. The St Albans-based Reid has relocated from Malta where he was head of insurance for HSBC.

Hewitt Associates - PSolve's head of consulting, Zuhair Mohammed has left the firm to join Hewitt's UK investment consulting team.

Lane Clark & Peacock -  Andrew Pocock and Claire Jones have both been promoted to partner. Pocock advises on aspects of pension provision and manages one of the four actuarial teams in London, while Jones focuses on the provision of actuarial advice to trustees.

Fidelity International - Stephen Hay is the new head of office for Edinburgh and UK equity business development. He joins from the Centres of Clinical Excellence. Hay will work with the newly appointed portfolio managers based in Edinburgh - Jonathan Cobb, who joined from Standard Life, and David Urch who will join at the beginning of 2008 from SWIP.

Punter Southall - Principal Joanne Livingstone will take on the new role of technical director, while Jane Beverley is promoted to principal and head of research. Both are based in London.

Northern Trust Global Investments - Lombard Olivier, previously portfolio manager and head of UK equity research, will no work as NTGI's head of research in the manager-of-managers group in London.

EDHEC - The Nice-based business school has appointed Dominic O'Kane as affiliated professor. O'Kane left Lehman Brothers International, where he was managing director and head of fixed income quantitative research (Europe), for the position. His future research activities will focus on the modelling of European and US sub-prime mortgages.
