GLOBAL - TPR, SWIP, Government Actuary's Department, State Street Corporation, State Street Global Markets, Jupiter Asset Management, Duet Group, Metlife Europe, Carmignac Gestion, ICSA

TPR - Jane Irvine, current chair of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, is to take up a new role as deputy pensions ombudsman and deputy ombudsman to the Pension Protection Fund from mid-November, on a part-time basis. She also sits on the disciplinary board of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries and will be its chair from January 2010.

Scottish Widows Investment Partnership - Roger Webb has been appointed as investment director for corporate bonds. He will be based in Edinburgh and report to Neil Murray, head of credit . He was previously head of credit portfolio management at Aviva Investors.

Government Actuary's Department - Chris Lewin will work with GAD on the development of further techniques for risk management within government. He is better known for his earlier work as an actuary, pensions manager, investment consultant and risk professional. He currently leads the joint risk management initiative between the actuarial and civil  engineering professions.

State Street Corporation - Ronald E. Logue will retire on 1 March 2010, but continue to serve as non-executive chairman of State Street's board of directors for a transition period until January 1, 2011. Current president and chief operating officer, Jay Hooley, will be promoted to CEO on that date but   has been elected to its board of directors, effective immediately.

State Street Global Markets - Kevin O'Neill and Samina Vernon are joining the transition management team in London, reporting to Rick Boomgaardt, head of State Street's transition management desk for Europe. O'Neill was previously a senior transition manager at Nomura International and Lehman Brothers for their London and New York team while Vernon was senior transition manager and transition analyst at Barclays Global Investors.

Jupiter Asset Management - Guy de Blonay is returning in January 2010 to initially act in an advisory capacity but will then team up with existing financial fund managers, Philip Gibbs and Robert Mumby. He was previously in charge of the New Star Global Financials Fund but came from Jupiter prior to that.

Duet Group - Eric De Candia has been named as chief executive of Duet Alternative Investments, firm's fund of hedge funds (FoHF) platform. Karim Khimji has also been promoted to chief investment officer for Europe and Douglas Morse is chief investment officer for its US FoHF business.

Metlife Europe - Adam Dooley has been promoted to UK sales director. His promotion follows the appointment of Andy Marks  to the newly-created post of business development director.

Carmignac Gestion - Matthew Williams is joining as an analyst on the finance sector, having previously worked as a sector leader at MFS International. He previously co-managed EAFE Financial Services and covered the global mining and minerals sector.

The International Council of Securities Associations - René Karsenti, president of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), has become ICSA's chairman. He will chair its advisory committee, act as a spokesman on strategic and policy issues and represent ICSA in dealings with international regulators and other national and international entities. He takes over the role from Jonathan Taylor, director general of LIBA.
