GLOBAL - BAPI, Arkitekternes Pensionskasse, AVÖ, Aon Hewitt, Edmond de Rothschild, HSBC, Pictet AM

Belgian Association of Pension Institutions (BAPI) - Karel Van Gutte was appointed secretary-general at BAPI on 1 June and will take up his function from 1 August. Van Gutte was national secretary of the trade union for the metal and textile industry, ACV-CSC METEA, and administrator at the industry-wide pension fund for metal workers, SEFOCAM. He has also been a member of the supervisory committee of the industry-wide pension plans for electricians and chairman of the pension fund of ACV-Metal.

Arkitekternes Pensionskasse - Mette Carstad has taken on the post of chairman of the supervisory board at the Danish pension fund for architects. Outgoing chairman Jean-Pierre van Tittelboom held the role for 23 years. Carstad has gained substantial experience for the job from her time as deputy chair of the board, as well as several years' work at the Union of Salaried Architects (Arkitektforbundet), the pension fund said.

Austrian actuarial society (AVÖ) - Christian Krischanitz, head of the actuarial consultancy arithmetica, has been re-elected at president for another three-year term. Further, long-serving board member Helmut Holzer has resigned to make way for the "much younger" Andreas Mehl, from Allianz insurance.

Aon Hewitt - Peter Redhead has joined as business leader for the UK North West, based in the consultancy's Manchester office. He joins after spending 16 years with the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, where he was deputy chairman of the employee benefits division. 

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management - Thomas Vlieghe will join the asset allocation team run by Françoise Rochette. He joins from Allianz Global Investors, where he spent six years as a balanced portfolio manager of open-funds and dedicated mandates for institutional, corporate and pension fund accounts.

HSBC Alternative Investments Private Equity - Simon Jennings has joined as managing director and head of private equity. He joins from UBS Wealth Management, where he co-founded and ran the private equity business between 2004 and 2011. He has more than 22 years of private equity investment experience covering fund selection, due diligence, direct company investing and co-investing.

HSBC Global Asset Management - David Wickham has been appointed director and senior product specialist responsible for global emerging market equities. Prior to joining HSBC, he was director of private equity investments with Invesco Asset Management in London. Before then, he held a similar position at Insight Investment.

Pictet Asset Management - Anthony Cheung has been appointed senior investment manager in Pictet's Asia total return team, where he will co-manage Asia equity long/short funds. He was previously at Gartmore Investment Management and before then worked at ABN AMRO Asset Management and Central Asset Investments in Hong Kong.
