ATP - The Danish pension fund has appointed a new member to its management board, Jens Brøchner, who takes up the newly created role of director of business development. In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of NOW Pensions, ATP's new UK operation, as well as compliance and risk management. Brøchner will join from the beginning of November, having previously been director of the Danish Pensions Agency.

Mercer - Phil Howard has been appointed a senior consultant in the consultancy's governance and trustee services group, based in London. Before joining Mercer, he was the operational information manager at the UK National Employment Savings Trust. Before joining NEST, he worked at Hewitt Associates as a governance consultant.
Syntrus Achmea - Richard Mouw started as business development director at Dutch asset manager Syntrus Achmea on 1 October. He joined from Allianz Global Investors, where he served as sales director. At Syntrus Achmea, he will focus on new fiduciary mandates.

Barnett Waddingham - Andrew Vaughan has been appointed as a partner. He will advise corporate clients on a variety of issues, including risk reduction exercises and accounting matters. He joins from Mercer, where he was a senior partner responsible for advising corporate and trustee clients from FTSE 100 organisations and other major multinationals.

JLT Investment Consulting - The UK employee benefits consultancy has expanded its services with the establishment of an investment consulting team in Edinburgh. Vanessa Wakefield will lead the team, with support from senior investment consulting analyst Murray Taylor. Wakefield joined JLT in January 2009 after 18 years with Mercer Investment Consulting.

KPMG Investment Advisory - Jon Exley, previously a partner within Mercer's specialist financial strategy group, is to join the investment advisory practice at KPMG in the UK as a partner in November. Before joining Mercer, he was a director in the Pension Solutions Group at Barclays Capital.

Threadneedle Investments - Executive chairman Simon Davies is set to retire from the company in June 2012. Davies joined the company as chief investment officer in 1995, became chief executive in 1999 and executive chairman in 2007. Threadneedle will continue to be led by chief executive Crispin Henderson.

First State Investments - Richard Wastcoat has been appointed the asset manager's first non-executive director. During his 25-year career at Fidelity, Wastcoat was chief executive of its UK mutual fund business and, subsequently, FundsNetwork, from 1999 until his retirement from the company in 2008. He also served as a member of the board of the Investment Management Association.

Axioma - The New York-based provider of decision support, risk analysis and portfolio rebalancing has appointed Ian Webster as managing director for Europe. He succeeds Olivier d'Assier, who will focus on operations in Asia Pacific. Webster was most recently global head of data management and corporate actions at UBS Global Asset Management. He has also worked at Barclays Global Investors and Barra.

LaSalle Investment Management - Chris Brett has been appointed to the newly created position of European head of strategic partnerships, based in London. He joins from Jones Lang LaSalle, where he headed the international desk in London and focused on advising investors from the Middle East, Asia Pacific and North America on direct real estate.

bfinance - The financial services firm has strengthened its Dutch team with the appointment of Sander van de Giesen as business development director in the Dutch and Belgian institutional markets. He joins from Pioneer Global Investments, where he was responsible for business development in both the Netherlands and the Nordics.
