GLOBAL - Pensions Policy Institute, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, SNPF, JP Morgan Asset Management, Russell Investments, Northern Trust, ITM, Yam Invest, Avoca Capital

Pensions Policy Institute (PPI) - Michael Pomery has been appointed chairman of the PPI’s council, succeeding Matthew Annable. Pomery retired from Hewitt Associates in 2006 and is a former president of the Institute of Actuaries, having served as president from 2004 to 2006. Since 2006, he has been active in the International Actuarial Association, while serving as a council member at the PPI.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan - Jo Taylor has been appointed as the new head of the London office of Teachers’ Private Capital (TPC). His private equity career includes more than 20 years with 3i Group, where he held a number of senior roles. Most recently, he has worked as an independent investor, portfolio manager and board member. He will serve as vice-president of TPC and Teachers’ senior representative for the EMEA region.

SNPF - The Netherlands’ €1bn occupational pensions fund for notaries has appointed Gerard Sirks as temporary director. He succeeds Max Muntinga, who left the scheme after 12 years.  Currently, Sirks is self-employed manager and investment consultant. Previously, he has served as chief executive at Zwitserleven Asset Management and director at F van Lanschot Bankers.

JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) - John Stainsby has been appointed head of UK institutional, reporting to global head of institutional business Mike O’Brien. Stainsby, who has been with JPMAM since 1999, will move from head of the client portfolio management team for global equities in London. Before joining JPMAM, he worked at Lloyd George Management and Schroders.

Russell Investments - Pascal Duval has been appointed the asset manager’s chief executive for the EMEA region, succeeding Len Brennan, who rejoined the firm as global president and chief executive in July. Duval joined Russell in 1994 to set up its office in Paris and has held a number of European leadership positions over his 17 years at the company.

Northern Trust - Olivier Noel has been appointed deputy managing director at Northern Trust’s Luxembourg Management Company, which provides administration services in the region. Noel, who joined Northern Trust in 2005, was most recently head of transfer agency and shareholder services in Luxembourg. In his new role, he will be responsible for client servicing, product development and new business integration.

ITM - The data and systems provider has appointed Nathan Jones as a senior consultant. He joins from PwC, where he was a senior associate. Before then, he worked as a consultant at Go Pensions. Jones has more than 10 years’ experience of pensions administration and will be lead consultant on a wide range of ITM consulting projects.
 
Yam Invest - Pierre Colin has been appointed as general director and a member of the directory board. Colin joined Yam Invest this month from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was president of the French unit. Between 1986 and 2011, he worked for several US banks - including Dillon Read, JP Morgan and Bank of America - both in Paris and London.

Avoca Capital - The European credit investment manager has appointed Rachel Black as head of capital raising for the credit hedge fund team based in London. The appointment forms part of the team’s strategy to increase capital for its two long/short credit funds, the company said. Black joins from Concerto Asset Management, where she was head of marketing and business development.
