GLOBAL - BlackRock, AP6, National Association of Pension Funds, Alternative Investment Management Association, Ignis Asset Management, Pioneer Investments, SWIP, Legal & General Investment Management, Spence and Partners, Source Pensions, Barnett Waddingham

BlackRock - Arno Kitts has joined as head of UK institutional, responsible for relationships with pension funds and other institutions, while Andy Tunningley has been appointed head of the UK strategic team. Kitts joins from Henderson Global Investors, where he spent nine years, latterly as co-head of global distribution. Before then, he spent five years with JP Morgan. Tunningley previously held several global leadership positions at Aon Hewitt in a 21-year spell in its investment management consulting businesses. He replaces Juliet Bullick, who will become head of diversity EMEA. Tunningley replaces Mark Johnson, who has been appointed head of UK sales for iShares.

AP6 - The Swedish buffer fund, investing exclusively in private equity, has appointed one of its most senior investment managers as chief executive. Only nine months after joining as head of corporate investments, Karl Swartling has been named chief executive following the sudden departure in March of Marianne Dicander Alexandersson. Resigning after less than a year in the post, she is understood to have left due to a disagreement over investment strategy.

National Association of Pension Funds - Helen Forrest has been appointed head of policy and advocacy to strengthen the NAPF's policy work. She will join on 24 September from the UK Department for Work and Pensions, where she currently leads the pensions stakeholder team. She will work alongside Mel Duffield, head of research and strategic policy, and report to Darren Philp, director of policy.

Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) - Jennifer Wood has been appointed head of asset management regulation. She joins from Dechert LLP, where she was a partner advising Asian, European and US financial services firms on US regulatory matters. She studied finance at the University of Iowa and law at the Columbia Law School, where she was the editor-in-chief of the Columbia Business Law Review.

Ignis Asset Management - Martin Powis has been appointed institutional sales director. He joins from Deutsche Asset Management, where he was vice-president of institutional, responsible for corporate pension scheme, local authority and consultant relations. Separately, Jo Howley has been appointed product specialist for LDI and fixed income. She joins from BlackRock, where she had worked since 1997, holding a number of fixed income and LDI product specialist positions.

Pioneer Investments - Rogier Westhuis has been appointed head of wholesale for the Netherlands and Nordics. He joins from ING Investment Management, where he spent more than 10 years, most recently as senior business development manager responsible for wholesale clients in the Netherlands. Before then, he held the position of senior portfolio specialist covering real estate and sector funds.

SWIP - Calum Smith has been appointed to the newly created role of head of global aggregate in the fixed income team. He joins from BlackRock, where he spent 11 years, most recently as a director and senior fixed income strategist. Before this and during his tenure at BlackRock, he was a fixed income director and senior portfolio manager.

Legal & General Investment Management - Marion Stommel has been appointed head of credit. She joins from WestLB Mellon Asset Management, where she was responsible for the management of the credit team and the development of international business. Before joining WMAM in 1998, she was at West LB AG and HypoVereinsbank, respectively.

Spence and Partners - Marian Elliott has been appointed head of UK Trustee Advisory Service. Elliott is a scheme actuary who has worked in the UK pensions market for 10 years since she moved to England from her native South Africa. Her appointment coincides with the opening of a new office in London.

Source Pensions - The administration and investment fund platform for occupational pension schemes has appointed Garry Crackle as sales and implementation manager and Brian Curran as business analyst. Crackle has more than 30 years' industry experience, most notably with Standard Life and Legal & General. Curran joins from the Source Pensions Dublin office.

Barnett Waddingham - Gavin Markham has been appointed an associate in the corporate consulting team. He joins from BAE Systems, where he was head of pensions actuarial for five years. Before then, he was a senior consultant at Towers Perrin for 12 years.
