GLOBAL – State Street Global Advisors, BNY Mellon, Better Capital, MN, Aquila Capital, Franklin Templeton, Cantab Capital, AEW Europe

State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) – Louis de Montpellier has been appointed global head of the official institutions group (OIG). He joins from the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland, where he has been deputy head of the banking department since 2005. He has also worked at Morgan Stanley, the Ministry of Finance in Belgium, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Credit Suisse. At SSgA, De Montpellier succeeds John Nugée, who will retire at the end of October, although he will remain in an advisory capacity as a strategic consultant for the OIG business.

BNY MellonAdrian Gordon has been appointed as head of institutional distribution for the EMEA region. He joins from Perpetual, where he was head of Europe. Before then, he held a number of senior positions at Mercer, Barclays Global Investors and OppenheimerFunds. With the news, he replaces Jonathan Lubran, who is retiring at the end of this year.

Better CapitalRichard Favier OBE, former head of restructuring and insolvency at the Pension Protection Fund, will be joining the team at Better Capital. Prior to joining the PPF, Favier advised government ministers on UK, European and international insolvency policy working. He was also the UK expert on the Insolvency Law Working Group at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.

MNRichard van Ovost is leaving Dutch pension scheme administrator and asset manager MN after eight years as head of international real estate investments. A spokesman said Hein Brans, director of asset management, would replace van Ovost "at least temporarily". No moves have yet been made to find any external replacement.

Aquila Capital – The alternative investment manager has appointed Dorothee Goerz as senior fund manager. She joins from Aremus Partners, a hedge fund advisory group, where she was responsible for managing a European-focused strategy. Before then, she was a portfolio manager for the pan-European long/short equity investment portfolio at Lombard Odier.

Franklin TempletonToby Hayes has been appointed vice-president and portfolio manager for the Multi-Asset Strategies group. He joins from Pacific Real Estate Capital, where he was a multi-asset portfolio manager and responsible for developing alternative strategies across real asset classes. Before then, he was founding partner at multi-asset boutique Armstrong.

Cantab Capital – The UK-based systematic global macro manager has hired Adam Glinsman for the newly created position of managing partner. After a previous career in institutional equities, between 2003 and 2009, he was COO and partner at Lansdowne Partners. After retiring from Lansdowne in 2009, he remained a consultant to the flagship Lansdowne Developed Markets Funds.

AEW EuropeTim Hennes has been appointed head of asset management for Germany and Central Europe. He joins from PointPark Properties in Frankfurt, where he was head of asset management for Western Europe. Before then, he served as vice-president at Heitman.
