UK – Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity (AMJPE) has won the mandate to manage and advise a new segregated £15m (€25m) private equity fund, Yorkshire Investors III, to be launched by the £5bn West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF).

The new fund is to be invested exclusively in the North of England and Scotland for amounts between £100,000 and £1m.

It will be managed out of AMJPE’s office in Leeds.
In addition, Yorkshire Investors III will be allowed access through AMJPE to individual investments in small transactions and participate with other client funds in AMJPE’s larger investments.

Stuart Imeson, head of pensions and investments at WYPF, says: “Whilst private equity investment by its very nature may be viewed as higher risk, with the right managers it can produce substantially higher returns than traditional forms of investment.”
