UK – Royal & SunAlliance has appointed pensions “troubleshooter” Jerry Gandhi as interim UK pensions director following the departure of Kevin O’Boyle to BT.

O’Boyle was appointed BT’s new head of pensions last month where he will be mainly responsible for matters relating to pension policy.

RSA refused to comment on Gandhi’s appointment, saying it was an internal matter.

Gandhi, who started at RSA in August, heads up CAP Services Ltd. CAP compliments existing consultants, who “often have difficulty in providing focussed support at short notice,” according to CAP’s website.

He was unable to give further details about his interim role at RSA. However, he confirmed that “a range of large and small contracts have been completed with the RSA work being the latest”.

Gandhi, a former pensions director at Inchcape plc, established CAP Services over six years ago.

According to the website it provides an “effective and independent resource not normally available to companies and trustees from the current consultancy organisations”.

RSA’s investment consultant is Watson Wyatt, according to ‘International Pension Funds and their Advisors’.

Watson Wyatt was also unable to comment on the appointment or any kind of relationship it may have with the interim director due to client confidentiality.
