NETHERLANDS - The long-time chief investment officer of the Nedlloyd Pension Fund is retiring at the end of March, after 40 years at the scheme.

Bert Tibben, the former CIO of the shipping company's €1.2bn pension fund, said of his long experience in the pensions industry: "It's been a very interesting time, obviously. There have been many changes, and those changes have accelerated in the last few years in number and scope."

Frans Dooren has already succeeded Tibben as CIO, having taken on the role at the pension fund last April.

The two have been working together since then.

Dooren has worked at the Nedlloyd Pension Fund for nearly three years, having arrived from the pension fund of industrial conglomerate Stork.

Tibben told IPE: "I will definitely keep following what's going on in the pensions industry after my retirement - it's something that affects everybody."

He said he would not say goodbye to the pensions industry entirely, though he had no plans right now for any specific new roles.
