DENMARK – Europe’s ninth largest pension fund, Denmark’s Arbejdsmarkedets Tillaegspension, has named Jorgen Sondergaard as its new chairman.

“The board of directors of ATP have decided to propose the executive director of the Institute for Social Research as the new chairman of ATP, succeeding Knut Heinesen who has said he wants to retire,” ATP said in a statement.

“The election of the new chairman will take place on February 27.”

Former Danish finance minister Heinesen has chaired the 29.8 billion euro ATP since 1995. Sondergaard, 53, is currently head of the Institute for Social Research.
