EUROPE - Hermes Fund Managers, Pioneer Investments, B&CE, Northern Trust, F&C Investments, Aberdeen Asset Management

Hermes Fund Managers - Harriet Steel has been appointed global head of sales and marketing, based in London. She will be responsible for growing the company's asset management business and form part of the executive committee. She co-founded Portico Advisors in 2003 and before then worked at Morgan Stanley's fixed income group, where she was responsible for currency derivatives sales.

Pioneer Investments - Stefan Tölg joins Pioneer Investments Germany as head of institutional client management and solutions, in charge of developing the German institutional business. Tölg joins from WAVE Management, where he was a member of the executive board responsible for portfolio management, research and product development. In addition, Pioneer has also appointed Ronny Alsleben and Reinhold Dirschl as sales directors.

B&CE - Chief executive Brian Griffiths is set to retire from the UK-based workplace pensions provider at the end of September. Patrick Heath-Lay, who currently serves as director of finance and strategic delivery, will succeed him. Griffiths has led the organisation for the past 10 years, recently overseeing the launch of its auto-enrolment offering, The People's Pension.

Northern Trust - Nigel Tyler has been appointed as senior index equity portfolio manager in London as part of the expansion of the global index portfolio management team. Tyler will manage global equity index portfolios for clients in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He joins from State Street Global Advisors, where he was a senior portfolio manager for global equity beta solutions.

F&C Investments - Steve Ilott has been appointed head of multi-strategy investments in its Investment & Institutional Business. Ilott was previously a partner at Alignment Investors, a division of BlueCrest Capital. Before then, he served as global head of fixed income at Aberdeen Asset Management.

Aberdeen Asset Management - Charles Macgregor has been appointed head of credit research for the Asia Pacific region, while Thu Ha Chow has joined as a senior credit analyst. Macgregor joins from Aviva Investors Asia in Singapore, where he was senior vice-president in charge of Asian credit research. Chow has been transferred from the Aberdeen's London office.
