GLOBAL - Dexia, Fidelity, First Actuarial, First State Investments, Friends Life Investments, Reyl, SSgA, Swiss Re, T Rowe Price

Dexia Asset Management - Cécile de Lasteyrie has been promoted to head of socially responsible investment (SRI) development, working with the company’s global head of SRI Isabelle Cabie to refine Dexia’s SRI strategy. De Lasteryrie began her career at PwC and has also worked at Barep Asset Management. She has been with Dexia since 2005.

Fidelity Worldwide Investment - The UK institutional team has grown with the addition of Gordon Strachan and Paul Harris as relationship directors. Strachan joins from AXA Rosenberg Investment Management, where he worked first as portfolio manager and then as investment director for European and Middle Eastern clients. Harris previously worked at UBS Global Management, where he was head of UK institutional clients.

First Actuarial - Mike Smaje joins from Towers Watson. Based in the company’s Leeds office, he will act as director of investment services at First Actuarial.

First State Investments - Two new hires for the global equities team have been announced, with Julie Thomas and Ben Yeoh joining from Oriel Securities and Atlantic Equities, respectively. In their new roles, Thomas will focus on financial stocks, while Yeoh will oversee healthcare equity investments. Both will report to Habib Subjally, the company’s head of global equities.

Friends Life Investments - Michael Wright, John Hampton, Purna Bhudia and Nigel Bradshaw are all set to join the company from LV= Asset Management in the new year. Wright, previously head of fixed interest, will lead the new investment team as director of fixed income, while Hampton will become head of credit. Bhudia and Bradshaw, who previously reported to Hampton, have been named corporate bond portfolio managers.

Reyl Asset Management - Gilles Pradère has been named senior fund manager, joining from Calyon. In the past, Pradère has worked at BNP Paribas, as well as Pictet Asset Management.

State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) - Joining from Mellon Capital Management, Michael Ho has been named chief investment officer for active emerging market equities and global macro capabilities. Ho will report to Alistair Lowe, global chief investment officer for active equities, will work from the company’s Boston office.

Swiss Re - Stefan Lippe, chief executive at the reinsurance company, will step down from his role in 2012. Lippe, who was named chief executive in 2009, has opted for early retirement after three decades at Swiss Re. A successor is currently being discussed.

T Rowe Price - Wim de Ruijter has been named client relationship manager for mid Europe, based in Amsterdam and reporting to Jandaan Felderhoff, head of client relationship management for the region. De Ruijter most recently worked for F&C Netherlands and has more than 16 years of industry experience.
