NN Investment Partner’s (NN IP) chief executive officer, chief investment officer and chief client officer have taken up new roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) as the The Hague-based firm’s integration into the US asset manager’s organisation takes shape.

Satish Bapat has been named chief operating officer for asset management in the EMEA region. He is joining the division as a partner and will assume the new role in addition to his current responsibilities as CEO of NN IP.

Bapat will split his time between London and The Hague.

“Satish will help define, prioritise and execute asset management’s strategy, including client engagement, ESG initiatives and product development,” GSAM said in an internal memo seen by IPE.

Valentijn van Nieuwenhuijzen, CIO of NN IP, has been named global head of sustainability for public investing, reporting to Ashish Shah, CIO of public investing at GSAM.

The appointment is meant “to leverage NN IP’s expertise to complement our current investment processes and deepen ESG integration across strategies to deliver on our clients’ sustainable investing priorities,” according to GSAM.

NN IP’s chief client officer Hester Borrie will serve as co-head of GSAM’s EMEA institutional client business, together with her UK counterpart Chloe Kipling. They will report to Fadi Abuali, CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management International.

The announcement of the new roles for NN IP’s senior leadership comes just weeks after the firm’s head of fiduciary management Maureen Schlejen left the firm for Cardano/Actiam.

Her duties are being observed on an interim basis by basis Philip Jan Looijen (integrated client solutions) and Jacob van Gelder (NL institutional clients). It’s not yet clear how the combined fiduciary business of NN IP and GSAM will be organised after the merger, according to a spokesperson.
