Pensions Management Institute names president

UK - The Pensions Management Institute has named Penny Green, chief executive of the Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London, as its new president, taking over from Roger Cobley.

The PMI is a professional body devoted to promoting professional standards. It said Green would take over from Cobley at the annual general meeting in July.

Green, who also chairs Industry-Wide Pension Schemes Group, joined the PMI Council in 1999 and become vice president in 2002.

"In the last two years, under Roger Cobley's leadership, the PMI has been at the forefront of some major initiatives," Green said.

"Recently we launched PPEC, a ground breaking industry standard for those professionals responsible to the trustees for running schemes. This will assist trustees to ensure that schemes are governed well."

She added that the PMI has been asked by the government to coordinate the setting up of a trustee advisory panel.

The PMI also named Steve Delo, managing director of Escher UK Asset Management as vice president.

Ross Russell, a partner at Hymans Robertson, becomes honorary treasurer.
