Dutch Financial Markets Authority, Bouwinvest, Baring Asset Management, Hermes Fund Managers, Towers Watson, Jupiter, FinEx ETF

Dutch Financial Markets Authority (AFM) – Merel van Vroonhoven has been appointed chairman of the pensions communications watchdog as of 1 April. Van Vroonhoven has been a member of the executive board of the Dutch Railways (NS) since 2009. Previously, she was a member of the management committee of ING Investment Management Europe, as well as a board member at insurer Nationale Nederlanden, responsible for collective pensions. She is to succeed Ronald Gerritse, who passed away in September.

Bouwinvest – The €6bn property investment company has appointed Cathelijne Martin as senior portfolio manager for non-listed property funds in Europe and the US. As corporate lawyer, Martin has advised Bouwinvest on acquisitions and due diligence for the past four years. Bouwinvest has also appointed Marjon Copier as manager of non-listed real estate for the Asia-Pacific region. Until now, she has been a portfolio manager at Syntrus Achmea, where she was responsible for investments in a non-listed fund of funds in Asia.

Hermes Fund ManagersMatthew Doyle has been appointed to the newly created role of commercial director at Hermes Equity Ownership Services (Hermes EOS). He currently holds a number of senior roles, including COO, for the London office of global law firm Latham and Watkins. He is also COO at McGrathNicol, an Australia-based advisory firm.

Towers WatsonMark Lilly has been appointed as a senior account manager in the consultancy’s Technology and Administration Solutions UK business. Lilly is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and joins from Equiniti Paymaster, where he was an account director.

Baring Asset Management (Barings) – Véronique Fournier has been appointed to the newly created role of head of Switzerland and global head of private banking. She joins from Schroder Investment Management, where she was relationship director of the Global Financial Institutions Group. Before then, she held a number of senior positions at Morley Fund Management (now Aviva Global Investors).

JupiterJason McAleer has been appointed head of dealing. He joins from Newton Investment Management, where he worked for 14 years, spending the past nine in a similar role. Before then, he worked as a dealer at Sarasin Investment Management and Chase Asset Management.

FinEx ETFMartin Bednall has been appointed managing director of ETFs. He was previously at BlackRock/iShares, where he was managing director of iShares Product. He has also worked at Barclays Global Investors and State Street.
