GERMANY - Carsten Eckert, former chief executive of Pension Consult, the consulting arm of HypoVereinsbank, has joined Allianz.

Allianz said that Eckert, 39, has become MD and head of the newly created function responsible for the pensions businesses of Allianz Dresdner Asset Management Deutschland and Dresdnerbank Investment Management.

Eckert had headed HVB's pensions arm since 1998 and is on the board at Chemie Pensionsfonds and HVB Pensionsfonds. He was replaced by Thomas Kick.

"Moving to his new position means that he will give up his post at HypoVereinsbank as CEO of the Pensions Consult Beratungsgesellschaft," Allianz said.

Allianz also promoted Dr. Thomas Wiesemann, 37, to join the management team of DIT.

"His responsibility covers the newly-created corporate sales group companies function," it said. Wiesemann has worked for Allianz since 1995.
