GLOBAL – Schilders, London Pensions Fund Authority, State Street Global Advisors, Old Mutual Global Investors, Liquidnet, International Benefits Network

Schilders – The €4.6bn pension fund for painters and decorators has appointed Dick van Haaster as its new employees’ chairman as of 1 January. Between 2003 and 2009, Van Haaster has been in a similar job at the €34bn pension fund for the building industry, BpfBOUW. He is to succeed Louw Elzinga, who left on 1 May for a job outside the pensions sector.

London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA) – The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has appointed Edmund Truell as chairman of LPFA. Truell has nearly 30 years of experience in pensions, private equity and debt markets and was the founder of Pension Insurance Corporation. He said the LPFA would seek to grow its assets to invest in long-term infrastructure and housing.

State Street Global AdvisorsHoward Kearns has been appointed as senior strategist in the Investment Solutions Group, specialising in liability-driven investment strategies. Kearns has worked at at Nomura, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs. Max Scharl has been appointed portfolio manager for LDI Structuring, joining from SSgA’s Risk Analysis division.

Old Mutual Global Investors – The merged business of Old Mutual Asset Managers and Skandia Investment Group has appointed Donald Pepper as managing director of alternatives. He joins from TT International, where he was investment director for hedge funds. He started his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 16 years in fixed income and prime brokerage before joining Merrill Lynch.  

Liquidnet – The institutional trading network has appointed Mark Pumfrey as head of the EMEA region and a member of the global leadership team. He joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he spent more than 20 years in various roles, latterly as managing director and head of senior relationship management for the EMEA.

International Benefits NetworkSally Hart has been appointed executive director. She joins from Meritor, where she was director of compensation and benefits for Europe.
