Paul Maynard was appointed parliamentary under secretary of state at the UK’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The appointment comes after Laura Trott has been appointed as chief secretary to the treasury in a cabinet reshuffle yesterday marking the end of her 383 days as pensions minister.

Maynard was elected conservative member of parliament for Blackpool North and Clevelys in 2010 and prior to this appointment he was under secretary of state at the department for transport between July 2019 and February 2020.

He was also parliamentary under secretary of state at the Ministry of Justice between May 2019 and July 2019.

It is not yet clear if Maynard will take on the pensions role at the DWP.
