Pension funds participating in the Frank Russell performance measurement survey in Switzerland had a median return in 1997 of 16.43%, with the best performing fund showing a return of 21.17% and the worst performer 7.2%. The asset allocation of the median fund at end 1997 was Swiss fixed interest 46.5%, domestic equity 20.5%, foreign bonds 10.35%, foreign bonds Swiss Franc denominated 9.46%, foreign equity 11.89% and cash 3.68%.

The survey covers 16 funds with to-tal assets valued at Sfr14bn ($11bn) and a median fund of Sfr350m.
