Northern Local Government Pension Scheme (NLGPS), the UK investment pool, has established its new leadership team, subject to regulatory approval, chief executive officer Paras Anand announced in a LinkedIn post.
John Dewey has been appointed as the pool’s chief investment officer, moving from his current role as CIO of the West Yorkshire Pension Fund (WYPF) and bringing extensive experience as an investment leader at HSBC with a particular expertise in alternatives and investment strategy.
“Northern LGPS starts from a position of strength: a deep tradition of internal management, a mature private markets capability, leadership in housing and natural capital, and a longstanding commitment to local investment that delivers for the communities we serve. I will bring passion, purpose and ambition to building on these foundations,” Dewey stated.
“A heartfelt thank you to the team and stakeholders at WYPF. It has been a privilege to work alongside such a talented, dedicated and principled group of people. WYPF’s assets and members’ interests remain in the very safest of hands,” he added.
Lorraine Solway joins as chief risk officer from Octopus Money where she held the same role and has also served as CRO for Virgin Money and NEST.
Sera Sadrettin joins as the chief financial operating officer, heading the finance and operations functions. She has a deep expertise in private markets and has held finance and operations leadership roles at Fidelity International and M&G.
Having been appointed to his new job himself as the pool’s CEO a couple of months ago, Anand said: “It is a rare opportunity to be able to build a team from scratch and each of our team bring a combination of experience, technical expertise but importantly a commitment to building on the strong heritage of the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and West Yorkshire funds and building an exceptional investment organisation in North of England.”
